TRANSSA is an organization that advocates for the rights of trans (transsexuals, travestis, transgéneros, transformistas) people in the Dominican Republic. In particular, it seeks to promote leadership within the trans community and foster respect toward trans people. As such, it offers a space where trans people may find support as well as report instances of violence and discrimination in hopes of improving their quality of life.

ACTIONS

TRANSSA offers free mental health services for trans people.

 

TRANSSA organizes roundtable discussions and trainings and provides information about sexually transmitted infections, HIV/AIDS, hormones, sexuality, sexual identity, and homosexuality. It also offers free referrals, condoms, lubricants, and educational materials.

 

Through its Observatory on the Human Rights of Trans People, TRANNSA monitors and documents cases of human rights violations against trans people.

 

TRANSSA offers legal services and assistance[LB1].
